Get Advice

If you have some qualifications already you may well get all the help you need through the LearnDirect web site and help-line 0800 100 900.

If you have few qualifications (below NVQ level 2 or GCSE A-C standard) you are entitled to free face-to-face advice at a local advice centre. You can choose a centre that is conveniently located, or one that specialises in a particular client group (such as refugees or people with disabilities). Your adviser will help you to choose a course, sort out the funding and get a place. They will answer your questions about the course and the benefits that it will bring.

All of the agencies providing information and advice through the Nextstep London West network are accredited (or working towards accreditation) to the nationally recognised Matrix quality standard. They support the National IAG Board principles of service delivery and the Guidance Council Code of Principles.

A directory giving information about advice agencies which are funded from other sources, including some agencies which charge a fee, can be downloaded here. Printed copies of the directory can be obtained by telephoning 020 8863 1243 (while stocks last).

We value your feedback on the quality and effectiveness of our services. Our suggestions and complaints procedure is designed to invite your feedback. We are keen to address the issue(s) you raise, learn from the experience and use this to improve our services in the future. If you live in England but are not based in the London West area there will be another advice network near you.
